Important news about Bill S.978

This is important news about Youtube videos. Of doing gameplays of a game or a hacked game. I would suggest backing up your videos right now if it is related to gaming or anything of that type.

I’ve received a few emails about Bill S.978, a new bill proposed in the USA, which would make it illegal under certain circumstances to share videos of copyrighted materials over the internet. The problem is that it appears to also make it illegal to upload videos of games, such as let’s plays and speed runs. And I love watching let’s plays and speed runs.

If the bill passes, I suspect many game companies (including us) will add a special clause to the TOS specifically to allow posting videos of their games. A huge part of why Minecraft has grown so fast is the YouTube community.

If this bill passes it will make no sense and I would protest. My favorite genre of games is fighters and one of my favorite games is Starcraft 2 which both are HUGE in the streaming world. and 70% of my pc time is watching those. Strarcraft 2 made its name from people streaming it, and EVO had over 85k views a few weeks ago. And all of that will be blocked if this stupid bill passes

If the bill fully passes, then if you wanna record a gameplay of the video, you have to contact the people who even made the game (ex. Starcraft 2. Their creators) You have to contact them before uploading.

Not only that but if i remember correctly if you get permission from a company to stream their game you must charge all viewers a price to watch it. Which of course the company will get a part of. Always comes down to money

That is all a bunch of Bull. There is no point in making the viewers pay for money just to watch your Fudgin videos. I'm am seriously Fudgin mad about this. Looks like we're going to find a new place to upload our videos if this bill passes.

I would've never bought Starcraft 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2 & 3, Street Fighter 3S & 4, and BlazBlue if it wasn't for the free advertisement people did for them and me liking it. So yeah
